Grade 5, 23, 24, 25, 35 shall be furnished as annealed, or aged. Grade 9, 18, 38 shall be furnished as annealed.

Grade 19, 20, 21 shall be furnished as solution treated, or solution treated and aged. The materials shall conform to the required chemical composition for nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, iron, oxygen, aluminum, vanadium, tin, ruthenium, palladium, cobalt, molybdenum, chromium, nickel, niobium, zirconium, silicon, and titanium. They shall also conform to the required mechanical propetries such as tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard.

It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. Scope 1. Unalloyed titanium, 1. Unalloyed titanium plus 0. Titanium alloy 0. Titanium alloy 4. Titanium alloy 1. Grades 2H, 7H, 16H, and 26H are intended primarily for pressure vessel use.

NPS nominal pipe size and larger is most frequently custom made for an order. In such cases, the purchaser carefully should consider the applicability of this specification. Since the pipe is custom made, the purchaser may choose a wall thickness other than those in Table 1 to meet specific operating conditions.

The purchaser may also be better served to specify only the portions of this specification that are required to meet the operating conditions for example, annealing, flattening test, chemistry, properties, etc.

These supplementary requirements may be invoked by the purchaser, when desired, by specifying in the order. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

ASTM B862 GRADE 2 TITANIUM ALLOY WELDED PIPES

Savoy Piping Inc. The development of many different alloys has extended the application of titanium in industries ranging from industrial and chemical processing to power generation. The grade indicates the testing methods required for a given application. A common titanium mill product is titanium tubes, which are employed in a variety of products owing to its superior corrosion resistance and strength-to-weight ratio. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has approved most titanium grades, meaning that more options are available for various projects. Although grades such as 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11 and others are usable, grade 2 is suitable for most instances. The ready availability of grade 2 makes it a preferable material for quick production runs and larger orders.
