This was what was different and the USP of the show. They all had a specific characteristic and were carved beautifully and loved by the masses. The fans of these two pairs loved them immensely. Bidaai broke all records with the highest TRP ratings for the channel following the end of the evergreen shows. There was a time when every TV Actor wanted to act on big-screen and today its almost role reversal with many film actors making their debut on television with anchoring or reality shows.
Talking of youth, today television has an equal amount of shows divided between our youth audience and the ones who prefer watching saas-bahu dailies Youth channels like Channel V and MTV have become very popular over the years with reality shows like Roadies or Splitsvilla on MTV as well as some really interesting dailies like Dil Dostii Dance and Humse Hai Life on Channel V. Each of these shows have a youth flavor which inspires our youngsters to achieve something in life on their own terms and conditions.
These shows have definitely changed the trend of television which in the recent past they were meant for elderly woman or housewives where as now television is catering to men and women of all age groups.
All of these shows are considered classics by youth audiences. E kuch toh bahut log kahenge! Even today fans of these shows are trying to get their favourite jodi back on screen again. Even though the channel saw a revamp early this year into Life Ok, the shows are still catered to serve a youth audience. Each of these shows have successfully managed to grab the eyes of not only a matured set of audiences and housewives but even the youth seems to have taken these shows in a positive way.
Even mythological show like Devon Ka Dev… Mahadev has managed to attract our youth because of its exciting fast paced narration and special effects.
With a combined flavour of bold progressive as well as youth love stories, Sony has managed to grab maximum eyeballs this year in terms of wide variety of shows. However, Star Plus and Zee TV are also not far behind when it comes to a combination of bold progressive shows with a youth flavour to it. Zee TV too has hit the right button this year with its shows like Hitler Didi, which portrays the struggle of a young girl trying to run her family single handedly.
It seems all channels are totally geared up for the battle this time and one common factor in all these channels is that all are giving equal importance to the youth audiences along with the family audiences.
One reason why television shows have really started grabbing more attention than a bollywood film is because today TV Producers and channel are marketing their daily soaps in such a way that it not only attracts the family viewers but also attract the youth audiences who contribute a major part of the TV Ratings. With huge variety of shows all set to be launched in the coming months ,TV World is looking quite bright this year.
Even though IPL is coming in few months time, the daily soap world seems to be fully equipped to face a challenging competition as the common factor between the two are the youth audience and our daily soaps and if the youth votes in favour of daily soaps, then it will be tough this year for IPL.
